The Ultimate Cheddar Cheese Sauce

This sauce can be served over veggies, or used as a dipping sauce. Add some prepared Dijon mustard for an additional kick.

1 3/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
salt to taste
  1. Bring 1 1/2 cups of milk to a very gentle simmer over medium heat. While the milk is coming to simmer, mix together the remaining 1/4 cup of milk with the cornstarch and set aside. Once the milk has come to a simmer, add the milk, cornstarch mixture and continue simmering for about 3 minutes or until the mixture has thickened.
  2. Remove the milk mixture from the heat and slowly add in the cheese and little at a time until it is completely melted. Add salt to taste.
  3. Serve warm and enjoy!
